A 34-year-old woman became the first in Bangladesh to die from complications of the A/H1N1 flu this year.

Mahmudur Rahman, head of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research under the Health Ministry, told Xinhua on Monday, “Rumana Jahangir died on Friday after suffering from A/ H1N1 flu.”

source: A four-year-old girl from Sibu, Sarawak, died of A(H1N1)-related complications on Sunday, Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said.

The girl died from pneumonia and blood poisoning at the Sibu Hospital.

Another death due to Influenza A (H1N1) was reported in the country yesterday involving a 42-year-old lawyer from Johor.

Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said today the man died while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Johor Baharu.

Florida: A 51-year-old Daytona Beach man’s death last week was confirmed Thursday as related to the swine flu, Volusia County’s seventh fatality from the new strain, according to the state Health Department.

Oklahoma: The death brings the number of H1N1 deaths in the state to 44 since the new virus emerged last April.

Florida: A 73-year-old woman became the second Marion County resident to die of H1N1 flu, according to the Marion County Health Department.

The proportion of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza (P&I) was slightly above the epidemic threshold.
